Finance minister: 60% of Russia's exports go to Asia

BEIJING, Dec 18 (PRIME) -- Russia is refocusing of the foreign trade flows with almost 60% of exports going to Asia, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov told Chinese Finance Minister Lan Fo'an on Monday.

"I want to say that the Russian Federation is at a stage of redirecting export flows, firstly, to our nearest friendly countries, first of all, to China," Siluanov said.

"Today our exports to the Asian countries account for almost 60%, while some time ago, this figure was half as large, and in many respects, China occupies the first place in the trade amount," the minister said.

The minister said that the increase of trade between Russia and China is a sign of stability of the economies of the two states amid challenges and fragmentation of the global economy.

Siluanov also said that Russia and China should jointly coordinate the issues of global macroeconomic stability in the framework of international financial organizations. Sustainable development of financial relations and settlements in the framework of BRICS is important for Russia, he said.
